Subject: March 16 POG Minutes

Hi everyone,

Here are the minutes from Tuesday's Prom POG Meeting. You will see the tasks for each committee - please contact us if you can help with any part of this.

The day after the POG meeting, we met with the Dover teachers in the afternoon and with Grade 11 parents and students in the evening. Both groups were excited to hear about Prom and have volunteered to help.

Please remember that Prom tickets are on sale in the Atrium each day at lunch only next week (until March 26), and then will no longer be available.

Subject: Nov 2 Meeting

Hello everybody,

Well, that was quite the meeting last night!

We have attached the minutes for you to have a look at if you want.

So, we are now shifting gears and planning for a Prom at the school. While this was not what we expected, we believe it will be a fabulous Prom. We hear that some students are having a hard time with this idea, and hopefully they will begin to see the advantages of doing it this way.

As well as this list, you will also now be receiving information directly through the school, since we can now use school resources again.

If you were not at the meeting and would like to help, please let us know.

Thanks,

David and Sandey

Grade 12 Students and Parents:

Happy New Year !

Please remember the next Prom Committee Meeting:
Tuesday, January 12, 7pm in the Library.
Important decisions will be made at this meeting. It is a crucial kick-off to the new year.  Everyone  is Welcome to attend!

We especially want to encourage Students to attend. The Student Committee, chaired by Leah Tidey and Carly Morrison, has done a great job, and we hope students will be even more involved as we get closer to Prom.

Please help: We need a chair, or several co-chairs, for the Decorations  Committee, as the current chair has resigned for personal reasons. Please don't wait for someone else to sep forward - contact us as soon as possible. This Committee has a strong budget, a large membership, and clear tasks to undertake - and we will be strongly supportive.
Note: Grade 12 Students are welcome to volunteer to chair,
or co-chair, if they also have a parent as co-chair.

Here is what we have achieved to date:
  • Pattie Walker and the Fund Raising Committee have raised $2500. Ticket prices will be $55, rather than the $70 first proposed. There will be also some financial assistance available for students who cannot afford tickets.
  • The Music Committee, chaired by Diana Bissonnette, has booked a  Music Production Company, and a dance floor, and are hard at work on music selection.
  • Linda Allbury and the Food & Beverage Committee have booked a caterer, and are now turning their attention to the details.
  • Some grade 11 students and parents have offered to organize a pre-Prom reception (photo opportunity) for parents and school staff.
  • The Photography Committee, chaired by Brent and Heather Wetmore, is working hard to ensure spectacular photo opportunities during and after the Grads' arrival.
  • Tickets are soon to be in the 'design phase' and the Ticket Committee, chaired by Suzanne Fleury, hopes to have tickets available by March 1.
  • The Security Committee (chaired by Sharon and Simon Davidson), and the PR Committee (chaired by Joan Hiemstra and Annette Ruttan), have been successfully putting together the foundational pieces that are so important to Prom.

We wish you warmth and joy through the remainder of the Holidays, and into the next year!

Please feel free to contact us if you have any suggestions or queries.
